Read below to find out some tips on how to use the app Instagram if you don’t already know…

How to use:instagram

First step: Download the app “Instagram” on your device. Or just stick with the computer online one. but it’s better on your phone.

Login/Signup: Signup by typing your email address, your username or log in (if you already have an account)

  • instaFront Page: It is different if you’re trying to use it on a computer than a phone. But to get the most out of Instagram, try to use it on your phone, iPod, iPad, Tablet, etc. After signing up, or logging in, the front page will appear, which is used to discover what all the people you follow have recently posted on Instagram.

The 5 Icons: in total, there are 5 icons. The first one that looks like a house or whatever that is, yea that is the front page where you can view and see what’s up, who has posted what and someone’s story which will be on the top of the page. To view a story click on it, swipe left or right to skip to the next person story, or click once to skip that part of a friends story. Anyways, the second icon on the right of the home icon is called Discover where you will be able to discover other peoples insta posts. The middle blue icon is where you click to post a video or a picture. The bubble with the heart is the notification icon, it tells you when someone has followed, tagged, liked or commented on your pictures. Finally, the last icon on the right is your profile, you click it to see your profile and from there to edit your profile.

Profile Edit: You can edit your main profile photo that appears beside your name  Edit your bio to make it of the things you want others to know about you. Just something as simple as your favorite color to your hobbies or best friends.  Basically, you decide on that. If done, edit your photo. Either taking one at that moment or getting one from drive or gallery. Then hit save.

Discover:To go to discover, all you have to do is click the search icon that’s on the left side of the blue posting icon. There you will be able to discover random pictures of people who you follow, people who you follow’s followers or just random pictures of people on Instagram. And if you do enjoy what you see from that particular person, click on the small rounded photo above the pic you saw to go to their profile. You can there follow them if you don’t already, and check out they’re feed. Also, after taping the discover icon, you can search anyone’s name up. Maybe a friend you want to follow. Literally, anyone who has Instagram. Just tap the search bar up on the top of the page.

Private Accounts: If a friends/stranger/whoever their account not on private then u can see their posts, their followers, people who they follow, and their bio. The only difference between private and nonprivate accounts is that the private accounts, you can’t see their posts nor who their followers or who they follow. But you will be able to see their bio and their profile picture.

Posting: To post a picture or short 60 seconds video, you have to post it on your device. There are about 5 buttons, the blue middle one, yeah that’s the one you should click if you want to post a video or a picture. I don’t know if you can post it from your computer or laptop (which I don’t think you can) but you can post it from Instagram from your device like a phone, iPod, Tablet, Ipad, etc.

Liking And Commenting: The next thing I am going to teach you is how to like/comment on someone’s picture or video. Under the picture or video, there is a heart-shaped icon (or double click on the video or picture) Click on that to like the photo or the video. Then there’s the speech bubble thingy under the picture is for you to comment. Make sure tho you are saying nice things because if not, they might report you and you will be blocked out of Instagram for the amount of time they think you deserve. Sometimes, if you did something really horrible, they might just kick you straight out of Instagram, then all your followers are lost. So please don’t (by the way, this is totally optional, you do not have to comment nor like)

Notifications: The other thing is your notifications. You get notifications when someone liked your post, commented on your post, is now following you or if you have a private account, will ask for permission to follow you. And if you know them or want them to follow, you accept.

Messaging: On your phone, you can also message people, I really don’t know if Instagram will make it allowed for you to chat on a computer, but for now, the only way you can message people through Instagram is through a phone.Go to your home page which again, is the first icon thingy on the bottom bar. Then, tap on that dm box-shaped icon on the top right of your page. You will then be sent to this place where you add to message people. And there you go, you can chat however you like.

Hashtags: Hashtags are used alot in this new generation. Hashtags are these number sign (#).  Adding tags to your photos is a great way to find new followers and share your photos with more people. But hashtags can be tricky. To get the most out of them, you’ll want to keep a few things in mind. People will be able to view your picture or video that you tagged in whatever hashtag with and will be able to comment and like.Example; I posted a picture of my homework. (which i would never do) and would like people to view it and all, so i tag things related to the topic which is homework. A perfect hashtag for that picture would be #Homework or #School. You can even be creative with this and be a little more fun. example; #yaysomuchhomework … or #Tonsofhomework, #schoolisboring
